With the aim of establishing a church and spreading the gospel to Chinese community in Sydney, they sent a request letter to Evangelical Free Church of China on 19th January, 1987. Blessed by our almighty God, the Evangelical Free Church of Australia announced its formation on 20th September, 1987. The first Sunday Service was held at Chatswood Chruch of Christ on 11th October, 1987. The sermon was delivered by Rev. Fred Cheung followed by benediction from Peter Dixon. Some highlights of EFCA: - Jul, 1988 - Rev. Joshua Mak appointed as Senior Pastor
- Oct, 1991 - Additional Cantonese service at 8:30am
- Sep, 1993 - Establish sister church at Sydney north west suburb, which later form the Livingstone Evangelical Free Church of Australia
- Jan, 1995 - Purchase of church property at East Lindfield
- Oct, 1995 - Establish of English Ministry and English service at 10:30am
- Oct, 1996 - Additional Cantonese service at 10:30am
- Sep, 1998 - Change of Chinese name to better reflect its expanding mission
- Aug, 1999 - Establish sister church at Sydney eastern suburb, which later form the Praise Evangelical Free Church of Australia
- Sep, 2001 - Establish of Mandarin Ministry and Mandarin service at 9:00am
- Jul, 2005 - Combining 8:30am and 10:30am Cantonese service to 9:00am and relocated the venue to Zenith Theatre
- Aug, 2006 - Commence SWITCH ministry
- Nov, 2008 - Rev. Sam Lui jointed EFCA as Senior Pastor
- May, 2009 - Establish third Cantonese service at 11:15am at Zenith Theatre
