Description:

The Sacred Music Department (SMD) looks after anything to do with music in the Church. Music is a powerful medium and is a wonderful gift given to us to worship Him through it. Music can help us express feelings that words cannot describe. Spiritual songs and hymns allow us to proclaim what we believe in and to express our praise, gratitude, feelings, reverence and love to our God Almighty.

Visions:

“To teach, encourage, train, facilitate and mobilise the church to use their musical gifts to praise and worship God, both individually and corporately.”

Our Cantonese congregation currently has the following ministries:

Choir

Leaders: Raymond Kan and Cassandra Lau

The Choir consists of about 17 brothers and sisters and they serve faithfully through presentations of hymns on Sundays and participate in special events such as Christmas celebration and Easter events.

Worship Teams

To improve song leading at our new Zenith worship, three new worship teams have been formed to complement the existing Praise Group (now named “Praise Rock”). The worship team structures are as follow:

  • “盤石讚美隊” / “Praise Rock” - (name based on Ps 95:1)
    • Members: Leroy Chan, Peter Chan, Denise Hsu, Robert Lao, Jacqueline Lau, Joyce Lo, Felix Tang, Carmen Tang, Iris Wong
  • “讚聲傳頌” / “WE-WA” (stands for When Everyone Worship Almighty)
    • Leader: Josiah Poon
    • Members: Pearl Cheung, Naomi Hsu, Anne Tang
  • “神光敬拜小組” / “The Light”- (name based on God’s words being our light)
    • Leaders: Danniel Ho, Joyce Wu
    • Members: Joyce Lo, Queenie Lo
  • “靈風敬拜小組” / “Spiritual Wind”
    • Leader: Bob Lee
    • Members: Li Hing Kwong, Mandy Tang, Alan Wu

Recruiting new musicians!

As the Church moves toward the “2010 one thousand” model, all brothers and sisters need to utilise their gifts in order to build up the body of Christ. In the context of the SMD, we encourage more brothers and sisters with musical gifts to step up to cater for increasing needs in the Church’s music ministries.
